The Habikasan Greenhouse and Gardening Project successfully culminated through a meaningful day filled with learning, service, collaboration, and care for creation together with the dedicated volunteers from the different communities under the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish.

The day began with an orientation program in the morning where the volunteers were introduced to the goals, activities, and sustainable practices of the project. The orientation emphasized the importance of environmental stewardship, community participation, and sustainable urban gardening initiatives that aim to benefit both the school and the surrounding communities.

After the orientation, the volunteers immediately proceeded with the cleaning and preparation of the garden area, including the preparation of plot beds for transplanting. Through teamwork and shared commitment, the garden slowly transformed into a more organized and productive space for planting and cultivation.

Following lunch, simultaneous hands-on activities were conducted where volunteers actively participated in transplanting seedlings to the  garden plots, plotting and plant preparation, bokashi Composting, and hydroponics planting and setup.

The volunteers enthusiastically learned and practiced sustainable gardening techniques that promote environmental responsibility and food sustainability, as this activity aims to provide the needy senior citizen from the different communities with freshly harvested and nutritious vegetables that can help improve their health and well-being.

To conclude the day, the participants visited the designated site for the upcoming greenhouse construction, marking another important step toward the realization of the project’s vision of creating a sustainable and productive learning environment for all.

Indeed, it was a grateful and fruitful day filled with unity, service, learning, and hope. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers from our partner communities whose generosity, hard work, and dedication made this meaningful activity possible.

Together, we continue to grow not only gardens, but also stronger communities rooted in care for creation and service to others. #ScientiaMaximeCumVirtute
