In a thrilling final last Friday, Naredo edged out Quezon City teammate Juan Carlos Pabillore of Ateneo de Manila University, 8-6. His path to the Ilocos Norte Palaro was anything but easy, as he faced top-seeded Gavin Kraut of Colegio San Agustin in the Group A final. After leading 6-2, Naredo withstood a fierce comeback to secure an 8-6 victory and a title match against Group B winner Pabillore.
Earlier, Naredo dominated his Group A opponents, sweeping Taguig-Pateros (8-0), Muntinlupa (8-1), and Las Piñas (8-1) to set up the final clash. In the qualifiers, the Grade 9-Rhoel Gallardo student of Claret School overpowered representatives from Ateneo (8-1) and St. Patrick School of Quezon City (8-2) in the Division Meet. He also blanked District 1 and District 4 contenders with identical 8-0 scores in the District Meet.
Reflecting on his victory, Naredo credited his success to dedication and discipline—values deeply ingrained in him as a Claretian. #ScientiaMaximeCumVirtute
