16 March 2024 | In last Saturday's RIFA High School Open final held at Colegio San Agustin, Claret Red Roosters repeated its elimination round triumph over rival CSA, 6-2.


 

Joed Pleños, voted league MVP, opened the scoring for the Claretians but CSA scored to tie the count.

A beautiful free kick early in the 2nd half gave CSA the upperhand but Filmar Tacardon's goal kept the teams tied again at 2-2. Claret did not let up with Joed Pleños and Filmar Tacardon giving the Red Roosters a safe lead, 4-2, while JM Kabigting put the icing on the cake.

 

 

Claret had been dominating the High School Open and Aspirants (Under-15 years old) categories during the time of recent college graduates Marco Casambre, John Abraham, Ray Sanciangco and Harel Dayan, and earlier on, of Anto Gonzales, Ariel Zerrudo, Andrew Santiago, Franco Bambico, Kale Alvarez, Paolo Locsin and Bok Santiago.

 

 

The batch of brothers Fidel and Francis Tacardon, Kenneth and Kristian Cammayo, Randy Raz, Karl Bugayong, EJ Orodio, Michal Anicete, John Velasco, Carlos De Guzman, Beryl Landingin, Moses Cachola, Miguel Canet, Ronnie Ayuyao, Angelo Pagdanganan, Luard Abaa, Austin Basconcillo, Anton Lee and Edmund Venus made history in the high school open category by upending the 7-year dominace of FEU in the DepEd QC Meet, enroute to winning the Palarong Pambansa gold in 2017.

Santiago, Locsin, Bugayong, Velasco, Kenneth Cammayo, Anicete and Landingin now coach for the Claret Football Development Program.
