As proclaimed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), International Literacy Day (ILD) is celebrated annually on the 8thof September. This year, the ILD theme is “Literacy for a Human-Centred Recovery: Narrowing the Digital Divide “which explores, with special focus, the interplay of literacy and digital skills as foundation for human-centered recovery within and beyond the context of the pandemic.

In the High School Unit, with the initiatives of the English  Area, a week-long celebration has been designed from September 8 – 14 across the HS Grade Levels:

Grade 7--Digital Book Synopsis
Grade 8--Infographics Making
Grade 9--Short Story Writing
Grade 10--Literary Analysis Essay
Grade 11--Poem Poster; Virtual Interview andTutorial Video Making
Grade 12-- Critical Evaluation and Infographic Poster

A workshop festival and Virtual Background Making are also set for all the High School students and the Literacy Day countdown posts are made available in the High School virtual campus.

All these activities aim to promote the development of students’ literacy skills and instill in the Claretians the importance of resilience towards sustainability.
